How do I find Pokémon cards?

• If you know what set the cards are in, you can browse by set.
  

  

• If you know the name of the Pokémon you are looking for, you can type the name into the search box and a list of all Pokémon cards with that name will be shown to you. (see also, searching, below.)

What condition are the cards in?

Cards from Professor-Oak are mint. That is, I only buy and sell cards that look like they were fresh from a booster pack. This is what I mean by "Share my Passion". If you receive a card from me that you do not consider mint, I will replace it or refund the purchase.

How to use this site (general instructions):

• Searching
  • You can search for items by name or partial name.
    • Example: You can find a Pikachu card by searching for pika - pikachu or even achu.
    • For Pokémon cards, you can use the collection number as your search criteria - 12/123 for example.
    Search results are in alphabetical order, limited to the first 500 matches.
  • You can refine your search by language, game, and rarity by selecting options above the search results.
  • Words separated by a space are treated as separate search words with an implied "and" between. This is the most powerful way to search. See the Search Help for more details.
• Drop Down List
  • There is a drop down lists that shows all the expansion sets available for the Pokémon Card Game.
  • This is what the button looks like: (not active)
• Shopping Carts
  • Your shopping cart is active while you are browsing the Professor Oak site. When you close your browser, the shopping cart is cleared.
  • Items with inventory available have an "Add to Cart" button.
  • View the contents of your shopping cart to remove items, adjust counts, save the cart or to make payment.
  • You can remove an item from your cart by setting the quantity to zero.
  • You can remove an item from your cart by clicking on the cart item and clicking the "Remove from Cart" button.
  • Adding an item to your shopping cart does not reserve or hold that item for you.
  
  
• Saving/retrieving your Shopping Cart
  • Your shopping cart is automatically saved under your IPAddress or your email if you are logged into your Professor-Oak account.

• Making Payment
  • Payment is made through Paypal or with a credit card.
  • View the contents of your cart to make payment.
    • Select your shipping option.
    • Choose your payment method
    • Follow the screens, the final screen will ask you to click the "Pay Now" button. Your purchase is not complete until this button is clicked.
    • You will see a thank you screen when payment is accepted.
      
      
• Selling cards to Professor Oak
  • It's easy to sell cards to Professor Oak. The process is detailed with clear instructions, to begin, click on the large white button up above.
  • You must have an account, if you do not, you will be prompted to create on.
  • Specific cards I will purchase and how much I will pay is determined by algorithms in this web, based on the frequency of purchase of each card.
  • It is the sellers responsibility to properly ship and protect the cards from damage (you, and me both!)
  • Payment can be in the form of Check, credit, or PayPal transfer.
  • Our needs are constantly changing as cards are sold, so check back frequently. Hot cards are always needed!
    
    
• Base Set Pokémon - the basics
  • Base set, the first set of Pokémon came in eight different printings. Each are worth different amounts. Only the Base Set english has these variations.
  • The first printing "1st Edition", have a black circle with a white 1 in it, surrounded by the word "Edition". The Artwork on these cards has no shadow on the border.
  • The second printing had an error and is known as "Shadowless" - the border around the picture of the Pokémon will not have a shadow. These cards can also be identified by the copyright. Shadowless cards have © 1995, 96, 98, 99 Nintendo, Creatures, GAMEFREAK
  • The third through eighth printing are called "Unlimited" (the most common) and have a shadow on the right and lower border of the artwork. The copyright at the bottom reads. © 1995, 96, 98 Nintendo, Creatures, GAMEFREAK - note the lack of "99" in the copyright.
  • In the first through seventh printings, there were errors on many of the cards. In the eighth printing, the Vulpix card had it's "HP 50" error fixed.
  • Cards printed by Wizards of the Coast came out in 1st and Unlimited print editions. Cards from Pokémon International do not.
